2010 New Hampshire EMS Unit of the Year

Linwood ambulance is proud to announce we have been honored by the State of New Hampshire as the Bound Tree Corporation EMS Unit of the Year!  This award is to recognize one service for exemplary service to the community.  The act(s) may have been while delivering patient care, public relations and education, prevention programs, or other related activities. 

The Fire and EMS Committee of Merit Ceremony was held at the Concord Center for the Arts on September 29, 2010.  Sue Prentiss, EMS Bureau Chief (Retired) introduced the ambulance service and spoke about many of the accomplishments.  Highlights were the continuous improvement of Linwood Ambulance Service from starting as a funeral home with an old hearse to having three ambulances housed in a state of the art building.  There was admiration noted that Linwood Ambulance is staffed by volunteers.  Members assist the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary International. The awareness programs for the high school.  There is reach out monthly to seniors and of course willingness to help the fire departments.  The awards committee was most impressed with the high chance of survival in the Lincoln Woodstock area.  The American Heart Association knows there are four links in the chain of survival.  The ambulance service offers monthly CPR classes and trains many throughout the year.  Many businesses of Lincoln and Woodstock know the importance of AED’s (Automated External Defibrillators) there are 33 units in the community.  The final link is early Advanced Life Support (ALS).  Linwood Ambulance Service has 20 ALS providers, 11 of which are paramedics, the highest level of pre-hospital care.  EMT-Basics complete the team.  With E911 in New Hampshire all links are met and there is a higher chance of survival in Lincoln and Woodstock.

The award was presented by Director Richard Nason, New Hampshire Fire Standards, Training and EMS and Commissioner John Barthelmes, Department of Safety. 

Chief Robert Wetherell, Linwood Ambulance Service dedicates the award to all members of Linwood Ambulance Service past and present.  The years of dedication, patient care, and compassion are what make Linwood Ambulance Service, New Hampshire’s EMS Unit of the Year.
